Permissions

All Loft conversions have to abide by strict Building Regulations.

We work close together with all Government Local Authorities, to ensure that the finished conversion has a completion certificate, issued by the Building Control in Your Borough.

Some properties may require Planning permission.

Fire Resistance
The Building Regulations require floors and certain walls/doors to
resist fire for a specified period. The correct form of construction will
protect you and your family.

Access and Means of Escape

To gain access to your new room you will have to consider the type of stair you would like. Ideally you should provide a traditional type that will give safe and easy access.Other special types of stair are available, and may be considered only where space is restricted. Remember! Stairways should provide a safe escape route for you and your family in the event of a fire. This is particularly important when a new room is formed in the roof space of an existing two storey house. For this reason the Building Regulations give specific information on this type of loft conversion.
